she walks through my house with a curious detachment, tight lips, eyes devoid of feeling. She is confusing me with Jamie, saying things like, "we were talking about (fill in the blank), so I brought these for you!"
"Mom," I say, "I never talked about that with you. I never asked for these."
She must have confused me with Jamie, she is sorry.
This infuriates me because Jamie's goal to replace me as a daughter is now being realized.
My parents assure me that they still don't care for her. They don't trust her either. Then suddenly, the words out of her mouth hold truth. My mom is surprized I still think otherwise.
"Let her replace me!" I say to B. He hugs me tight.
I'm tired, I tell him, tired of being mad, of seeing that look on her face, of being confused with someone I dislike so much.... I think I'll rest now.
I'll rest now.
