Valentines Day

Ahh Valentines Day. It’s the day of love, of passion, of romance. The only day when you will find hundreds of men, and the occasional few women, crowded around the same section of each store- the greeting card aisle.

It’s 5pm and everyone is rushing to pick out that perfect card for that one person who they love. But how do you find a card that says everything you need to say? Some will trade the sentiments found inside the card for the size. They will reject an otherwise perfectly romantic card for a giant one that has a dog on the front and says merely, “I Wuv Wu!” on the inside. Does every man really think that size matters?

I was impressed that B had gone out the night before Valentines Day, when I had already gone to bed, to get me a card. I really thought he would have waited until Monday, but low and behold, he is full of surprises! He brought me flowers and made me a Filet Mignon dinner and then we just sat and watched TV together. It was quiet and beautiful. After deciding we were going to celebrate on Friday, I wasn’t expecting anything yesterday- not even a card. But I found that the best Valentines Days are when you expect nothing, but receive everything you wanted- a kiss, a rose and a Valentines Day “I love you!”
