Cousins came while I was watching DHW. "Oh my god! Is the DHW? I’ll just watch the last part with you." She hasn’t had TV in a month, no phone either. Her husband is having trouble finding work, so she and her daughters are moving back in with her parents. She isn’t shy regarding her problems.
We took her for a tour. "It’s so homey. I like it!" She is so easy to please.
She took some boxes to pack with. She went on about how much we were helping her out, but really, she was helping us clean out our garage. Now we can park one whole car in there.
When she left, we gave them an open invitation. "Mondays after work," I said, "I always watch DHW and Grey’s Anatomy." Good enough for her.
Then, we were back in the house and changing into pajamas, him getting ready for the game and me, getting ready for dinner. It was a quiet night. Relaxing, soothing, and peaceful, made complete by messages left by a long time friend: "I miss you."
Come Wednesday night we will be leaving for LA for another thanksgiving with B’s sister. I should start drinking now if I want to survive through the weekend.
My tolerance is low.
I’m in trouble.
But I drank five glasses of wine with dinner on Sunday and I was completely fine. Let’s hope my liver is up to this.
